The RBI & SBI Classes celebrate their Mother's!
Mother's Day parties were lots of fun with singing, dancing and snacks! Thank you Moms for all you do! Rainbow II, Sunbeam II and Teddybear pictures...
Kids Day Out enjoyed making Spring Art to take home each day, loved sensory table play, colorful play-dough, and sandbox play outside. They have learned great play skills and are enjoying floor play, dramatic play and looking forward to seeing their friends each day. Music is always fun - the "Shakey Egg" song, "Five Green & Speckled Frogs", "Thumbkin" and their favorites "Glasses" & "Dinosaurs" keep them moving, rhyming and following directions. It's a busy day in the Kids Day Out Room!
Spring came to the Teddybear Classroom in April. Beautiful flowers, butterflies and frogs decorated the classroom and they also enjoyed a Unit on Farm animals. Lots of counting activities, matching games, and animal songs and books were enjoyed. They have begun a study of "Bugs" and are especially enjoying the sensory table with green rocks, bugs and scoopers.
The Sunbeam Classes began April learning about Spring weather- they created fluffy cloud art and painted rainbows at the easel, hung water-colored umbrellas from the ceiling and created a class-made giant rain cloud. They tasted and charted different jelly beans and created Easter Bunny baskets for their egg hunt. They have now started their Ocean Unit and can tell you many facts about whales, octopus, sea urchins, star fish, sharks and more! Their room is beginning to look like an underwater adventure!
The Rainbow Classes started the month of April studying Gardens, Insects & Flowers. They enjoyed measuring with "inchworms" and planting "Hairy Hairy" for the art show. They enjoyed counting Easter eggs and Easter egg relay races and are now discovering "Where in the World is the Rainbow Class"? - learning about different areas in the world. They can hardly believe that they are on the letter "Z" and that the school year is almost over.
Our STEM activity today - Using a glass of water, the RB Classes put shaving cream on top to represent a cloud. Then they used eye droppers to drip blue liquid watercolor on the “cloud”. Just like with real rain clouds, no “rain” falls at first; the liquid isn’t heavy enough. When there is enough “rain” concentrated in one area – the “rain” falls from the cloud. Amazing!
Nature on the Move visited the Preschool Classes this week. She presented information on "Butterflies" with many hands-on objects and visuals. They were very interested!
Kids Day Out children are enjoying new Spring songs, art activities and are enjoying some nice weather on the playground.
The Teddybear Class enjoyed a unit on Nursery Rhymes and are now learning about Farm Animals. They participate with animal matching games, felt board animal activities, puzzles and animal books and are creating wonderful farm animals for their classroom.
Sunbeams explored Fairy Tales, St. Patrick's Day fun; Butterflies and Caterpillars; Spring Trees; and Clouds and Rain during the month of March. They worked in teams to create a giant caterpillar in their classroom. They especially enjoyed a new "Nature Center" area in the classroom!
During the month of March the Rainbow Classes studied Weather, Rainbows, Clouds, Wind and Rain. They concentrated on Rhyming activities and did some weather related science activities. They began a unit on Gardening and planted grass in their "Hairy Harry" cups to display for the Art Show. They created a 'Still Life" painting of flowers in a vase. Beautiful work!
Dinosaurs! That was an exciting unit for the Rainbow Classes. Look for their Dinosaur Skeleton outside their classroom! They created dinosaur fossils, paper plate dinos; measured dinosaur lengths (the Apatosaurus measured from their classroom all the way to my office!) Valentine's Day was fun making tie die hearts and Valentine bags and using Hershey bars to measure.
February was all about "Shapes" this month in the Sunbeam Room. Shape art; shape games; shape manipulatives; shape sorting and matching! Groundhog Day and Valentine's Day were also celebrated with some fun activities.
During the month of February the Teddybear Class enjoyed preparing for Valentine's Day. They made Valentine Bags and art projects; played Heart Pattern matching games and a Happy & Sad Feelings Game. Then it was on to Nursery Rhymes - they had fun with that!
The Rainbow Classes had a "hair-raising" time with the STEM activity . They "charged" a balloon by rubbing it on their hair and then experimented picking up different lightweight objects with the balloon's static electricity.
The Friday Sunbeam Classes had fun with their STEM experiment with "Static Electricity". They "charged up" a balloon by rubbing it on their hair and then tried to pick up various objects with the balloon's electric charge. Looking in a mirror at their hair standing up was pretty funny too.
The Sunbeam I and Rainbow I Classes had their turn with the Magic House Presentation of "Math with Clifford". Sorting small, medium and large was never so much fun!
Kids Day Out enjoyed learning some new songs this month; painting and creating Winter Weather snow scenes; listening to stories and playing with friends.
The Rainbow Classes started out the month with many activities centered around "The Five Senses". Texture hand prints, pudding painting and sweet smelling flower pictures were favorites. Then on to Winter Weather Animals - painting penguins and learning about polar bears. They continued with Sorting and Counting activities as well as concentrating on Rhyming Words.
